These pages were created from our former Taoiseach James Mahoney’s database. He personally extracted at great effort all variant Mahony surnames found in the seven volume series The Famine Immigrants: Lists of Irish Immigrants Arriving at the Port of New York 1846-1851 by Ira A. Glazer, Editor, and Michael Tepper, Associate Editor, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1983.
Searching these pages may help identify candidates for your O’Mahony ancestors’ arrival at New York during 1846-1851. Remember you should always check the original passenger list since each of the many steps taken to create these pages provided the opportunity for errors including these:
-
Six numbers were skipped, possibly accidentally deleted items but likely just skipped during creation of the original database. Those six missing numbers are: 85, 97, 279, 627, 763, 1036.
-
Volume 7 extracts were done in two sections. These two sections were assembled into one Volume 7 list composed of numbers 89-184 and 735 to 976.
-
Numbers 599 & 600 and 824 & 825 both appear to be duplicates. Numbers 77, 78 appear to be duplicates of numbers 23, 24. Number 662 has a departed location of “St.” and numbers 591 to 594 have an incomplete date of “20” in the original database.
The variant surname spellings found on these pages are: MAHENY, MANAHY, MANEY, MAHONA, MAHONE, MAHONES, MAHONEY, MAHONLY, MAHONNEY, MAHONNY, MAHONY, MAHOONEY, MAHOONY.
